It Pays to Belong!
Being a member of our union is about so much more than being able to file a grievance. It is about supporting the labor movement and defending workers rights. It is believing that all working people are entitled to a living wage with benefits that can support a family. It is about having a voice in the legislative process, helping to ensure the passage of legislation that protects the working class and needed social programs.

King/Vallerie Scholarship Program
Through 2009 this program for children of Ohio APWU members has awarded 148 scholarships worth $78,000.00! Every applicant is eligible and the scholarships are awarded on a strict "luck-of-the-draw" at a state convention or conference. More information is available in the Member Resources section.
OWCP Assistance
Thousands of postal workers are hurt on-the-job every year. The OPWU offers our members assistance with filing claims for these injuries. We help with the initial paperwork right on through national hearings. Our director, Ed Lyshe, is one of the most experienced officers in the entire APWU and has helped hundreds of workers get their claims approved. We have a direct phone line so that members can call and get information directly from Brother Lyshe.
Retirement/Benefits
The members resourse section is filled with information on retirement, from planning to figuring your annunity. You must be a member to access the resource section.
Veteran Affairs
We established this office to help the many veterans that work in the post office. Mark Graham, our director, is a US Army veteran and our member resource department has a lot of information important to all service veterans.
APW Accident Benefit Association
Offers coverage for on or off the job injuries. Has been in existence for more than 100 years. Last year more than $1 million in claims were paid to deserving workers. Check out their web site www.apw-aba.org for more information.
