The Ohio AFL-CIO announced today that it has endorsed State Issue 1, the constitutional amendment on redistricting that will be on the ballot this November.

President Tim Burga said: "The creation of fair legislative districts is long overdue in Ohio.  The current 'winner take all' system of mapping state legislative districts has created a House and Senate not representative of the state as a whole and a polarized General Assembly with little worry of re-election.  Ohioans deserve a fair process to draw competitive legislative districts and, if approved, this measure is a needed step in the right direction.

The Ohio AFL-CIO represents over 500,000 union workers from 40 affiliated international unions in the public, private and federal sectors of employment.

The Ohio Postal Workers Union is a member of the state federation and it's president - Terry Grant - is a member of the executive board.
