Congress is at it Again—
Taking from Working People to Give to the Wealthy
The House Republicans’ Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is misnamed. The foundation of this legislation “is not designed to create jobs with a living wage and good benefits, but to enrich the corporate elite and the billionaire class,” said Political & Legislative Director Judy Beard. Wall Street and big business will be gifted with a tax rate reduction from 35% to 20%, paid for by trillions in budget cuts to programs for working people, including Medicare and Medicaid.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will further punish working families by:
? Capping the State and Local Property Tax deduction, and eliminating the State and Local Income Tax deduction;
? Repealing the medical expense deduction, including nursing home care;
? Repealing taxes on companies that ship jobs overseas;
? Making it harder to claim the child tax credit;
? Cutting the mortgage rate deduction in half;
? Repealing the student loan interest deduction.
